Around the world for drupa
From 31 May to 10 June 2016, the German city of Düsseldorf will be hosting drupa — Druck und Papier (print and paper) trade fair — for the 16th time. Drupa continues to be the world’s leading trade fair for print and cross-media solutions. The event has been held regularly every four or five years since 1951, but from 2016 on it will change to a new three-year interval to keep pace with technological developments in this fast-moving industry.
The highlights for 2016 — print, functional printing, packaging production, multichannel 3D printing and green printing — are drupa’s response to the revolution in the print media, and innovative technologies and solutions are aimed at attracting new visitors.
A drupa world tour to promote printing
Part of this preparation phase was the “drupa World Tour. ” This started in September 2015, when the “drupa ambassadors” set out on a mission to attend presentations, press meetings and workshops in Asia, Europe and the USA. By the end of February 2016, they will have appeared at more than 40 events being organized in all corners of the globe to draw attention to the drupa trade fair. Direct dialogue is the best way to find out where specific interests and needs lie. By the end of their tour the ambassadors will have clocked around 440,000 flight kilometers (273,440 miles), which is almost the equivalent to traveling eleven times round the world. Most recently, the road tour visited Mumbai and Delhi on 23 and 24 November. Coming up on the 12th January is Istanbul, Turkey followed by Almaty, Kasachstan on the 14th.
The last drupa in Düsseldorf was attended by a total of 314,500 experts from more than 130 countries. 79% of visitors were directly involved in investment decisions, 131,900 had definite investment plans, and 60% were from outside Germany. These are impressive figures.
MC² will be there
At that drupa in 2012, MC2 Europe successfully realized seven different projects with a total area of more than 4,000 m2. in 2016 MC2 Europe (the European unit of MC2 located in Hilden, near Düsseldorf) will be as successful as in 2012 concerning our projects for drupa.
